Benton PM Cemetery and Church

The Red Church was built in 1864, but it didn’t gain its steeple until four decades later. In 1903, ladies of the church formed the Martha Washington Sewing Circle. The ladies met every two weeks to sew, quilt, and do various other things that helped the church, both financially and socially. The ladies helped raise $200 to pay for the addition of a vestibule and steeple to the front of the church, and in 1905, the vestibule was completed.
